3 Vacancies: OB (GEF/UNDP) Project Positions

The ‘Enhancing “whole of island’’ approach to strengthen community resilience to climate and disaster risks in Kiribati project’ is a five (5) year funded project by the Global Environment Facility Trust Fund (GEF) through United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and implemented by the Office of the Beretitenti (OB). It aims to address the exacerbation of climate change on coastal infrastructure, water security and food security by increasing community resilience to the impacts of climate change, climate variability and disasters and building capacities at national and island levels. Under this project the OB is seeking to recruit three (3) suitable qualified nationals for the following positions: –

  1. Position: Kiribati LDCF Climate Change Project Manager
    Government Contract Type: TBC by UNDP and OB
    Position brief responsibility: The Project Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management and decision-making for the project and ensure the project is implemented in accordance with the agreed workplan of the project.
    Basic Requirements:
    • A Master’s degree in management, administration, environmental management or related field.
    • A minimum of 5 years in project management at a senior level.
  2. Position: Kiribati LDCF Finance and Procurement Officer
    Government Contract Type: TBC by UNDP and OB
    Position brief responsibility: He/She will ensure that the maintenance of the project financial systems is in accordance with the finance policies and procedures, and provision of timely and accurate financial reports to the Republic of Kiribati government and UNDP.
    Basic Requirements:
    • A degree in finance /administration/management
    • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in demonstrated administrative functions
  3. Position: Kiribati LDCF Climate Change Communication Officer
    Government Contract Type: TBC by UNDP and OB
    Position brief responsibility: He/She will provide communication support to the four components of the project and overall project outreach and awareness interventions in the project pilot sites.
    Basic Requirements:
    • University degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or relevant discipline is desirable.
    • Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in Communications (environment field is an advantage)
