The Public Service Office, through the Public Service Performance Management Division, would like to inform the public and civil servants that surprise inspections in public areas during working hours will continue to be conducted by inspectors.
Civil servants should be aware that the following locations are considered restricted areas during these inspections:
• Bingo halls
• Shopping malls, including second-hand clothing shops, markets, etc.
• Restaurants
• Clubs and kava bars
• Sports facilities, such as soccer fields, basketball courts, volleyball courts, etc.
These areas are designated as restricted zones, meaning civil servants are not permitted to be present there during working hours. If individuals are found in these locations by inspectors, they are kindly requested to cooperate by providing valid and necessary information upon request.
It should be noted that under the Public Service Performance Management Act 2022 (PSPM Act 2022), Section 5(11)(4), “A person who obstructs, intimidates, resists, or hinders a Pubic Service Inspector when exercising or performing his or her powers, duties and functions under this Act may be subject to disciplinary actions provided in the national condition of service for each respective government agencies”.
